

| Installation Guide for Ceramic and Gas Fired Kilns Kilns should be installed in accordance with the following instructions and local building and fire codes, A. Installations inside buildings: 1. Clearances for interior installation- the sides and tops of the kiln should be installed a minimum of 18 inches from any noncombustible wall surface and 36 inches from any combustible wall surface. The kilns should be installed on noncombustible flooring consisting of at least 2 inches of solid masonry or concrete. The flooring material should extend at least 12 inches past all support members or base of kiln. 2. Control side clearance- the clearance on the kiln's control side should not be reduced to less than 30 inches. 3. Hood and duct clearances- hoods and ducts should have a clearance of 18 inches from any combustible surface. B. Installation outside buildings: 1. Clearance for exterior installations- the sides and tops of the kiln should be installed a minimum of 18 inches from any noncombustible wall surface and 36 inches from any combustible wall surface. The kiln should be installed on noncombustible flooring. 2. Control side clearance- the clearance on the kiln's control side should not be reduced to less than 30 inches. 3. If the kiln is located under a roof area and is partially enclosed by more than two vertical wall surfaces, a hood and gravity ventilation duct should be installed to comply with section A-3. Safety Instructions 1. Never leave kiln unattended when firing. 2. Protect eyes when looking into peepholes 3. Keep Children and Pets away from kiln. 4. Never light burners if you smell gas. Immediately call the Gas Company. 5. Turn off gas valves and supply at end of firing. 6. NEVER trust an automatic shutoff devise or pyrometer. |
